BANISH MENTAL HEALTH STIGMA

Born on November 17, 1988, Evan graduated from Marin Catholic High School in Greenbrae, CA in 2007, the University of California Riverside with a Bachelor of Science (B.S)  in Neuroscience in 2013 and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2015. 

Evan was a handsome, charismatic, highly intelligent, kind and gentle soul who would help anyone in need.  He loved healthy living and exercise, and during his graduate school training, earned two certifications of personal training from national organizations.

Evan graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Masters in Public Health in 2015 in Environmental Toxicology. He was in the process of applying for veterinary and medical school. He loved life, and wanted to make a difference to the better to the world.

•  Young College-Age Adults: 1 in 4 students in college have a diagnosable mental illness.  The Foundation focuses on young adults, ages 18-30 specifically, to  increase access to adequate behavioral health services while away at college.
• Building Mental Health Provider Capacity:    While Psychiatry is in critically short supply in the community, the lack of capacity and access to behavioral health services is even more acute on college campuses.  We are encouraging and helping Schools of Medicine to increase trainee capacity and provide additional education to other physicians (primary care) and physician extenders (nurses, physician assistants, social workers) to increase and strengthen the behavioral health workforce
• Health Emergency Planning: Tools and programs focused on ensuring that both students and parents going off to college have emergency plans on what they will do when a child goes off to college and might encounter a health emergency.
